``Who looks outside – dreams; who looks inside – awakes`` ~ Carl Jung

Individual counselling is a process which provides a safe space where a person can explore difficulties and challenges with a trained professional within a nurturing environment.
It provides individuals with the opportunity to be heard and understood by someone who is objective, and respectful of their opinions and decisions. It also gives them the time to explore problems and issues from a different perspective.

During sessions, the client can talk freely about any anxieties and concerns troubling him/her without feeling judged or criticised.  The process focuses on resolving the issues that bring individuals to counselling and on assisting them to start living more satisfying and fulfilling lives.

Dorit offers individual counselling to adolescents and adults who are struggling with various difficulties. These include but are not limited to

  • Trauma – past and present
  • Communication and relationship problems
  • Low self esteem
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Physical illness
  • Stress management
  • Work/life balance
  • Domestic violence
  • Anger management

How can counselling help?

Although counselling cannot change external circumstances, it provides individuals with support while they are working and living through difficult experiences. It helps them to explore and think about what can be changed and how they can respond to difficult circumstances in a more positive way.

It increases personal insight and helps develop a greater awareness of self, thus empowering an individual to take control of their life and make positive changes where necessary.

Healing, personal growth, greater understanding of self, as well as a sense of empowerment and self-direction are often experienced through the counselling process.
